The rapid development of information technology promotes the process of new English curriculum reform in junior high schools.As a new kind of learning method,online learning has been attached great importance by educational authorities and schools.Much more domestic and abroad researches of English online learning have been carried out.Online learning refers to the delivery of a learning or education program by online means.It involves the use of a computer or online device in some way to provide training educational or learning material.In the networked learning environment,it contains rich learning resources and learners can download and use the learning resources at anytime and anywhere.What's more,learners can also express their own ideas and share their own resources with others online.Taking the constructivism theory as the theoretical basis,the author tries to describe and analyze the English online learning activities of junior high school students.Through literature analysis,questionnaires and interview methods,the author takes students of a Junior High School in Yantai city of Shandong province as the research objects and does a research on the state quo of their English online learning.220 junior high school students participate in the questionnaire survey and 191 questionnaires are valid.And the author also does interviews with junior high school English teachers and students to enrich and complete the results of the questionnaires.The paper mainly analyzes the students' English online learning from five dimensions which are also the five research questions.1)What is the situation of students' application of information technology to support their online learning? 2)What is the attitude towards English online learning of junior high school students? 3)What are the main contents and forms for the students to conduct English online learning? 4)What are the effects of online learning on students' English learning? 5)What are the difficulties and problems of junior high school students' English online learning? Through analyzing the questionnaires and interviews,the author had the following findings: there are still about 5% junior high school students who could not use the Information technology to support online learning,and the cooperative online learning ability of students is worse than their independent online learning ability.As for junior high school students' English online learning attitude,more than 95% students hold a positive attitude towards online learning.64.9% students think that the English online learning contents are rich enough and 67.5% of them prefer dynamic online resource forms.In terms of the effects of English online learning,different students have different opinions.And the biggest problem for students' online learning is they do not have enough time to learn English online.Based on the findings,the author puts forward some suggestions from four aspects: students,teachers and parents,schools and software institutions.1)Junior high school students should develop an English online learning awareness.2)Teachers should give students proper guidance and training about English online learning and parents should give their children enough support,encouragement and supervision of English online learning.3)Schools should provide students with good online learning environments by equipping students with good online learning facilities.4)The software institutions should have a deep understanding of students' age characteristics and English learning habits and develop suitable online learning platforms to meet students' needs.
