The discourse used in English classroom is not only the tool for teachers to teach,but also the target language for students to learn.The method and effect of interaction can affect teaching quality directly.Flanders Interaction Analysis System,which through recording and analyzing the category of the talk and the process of the teacher-student interaction,providing an effective approach for exploring the character of the teaching in the classroom.This thesis introduces the concept about the teacher-student interaction,the rule of the Flanders Interaction Analysis System,and review the related literature abroad and at home.Basing on Long's interaction hypothesis,and from the perspective of constructivism,according to the current situation of the teacher-student interaction in senior English classroom,the paper proposing the following two research questions:(1)How does the teacher interact with the students in Yining ordinary senior high school English classroom? Are there any differences between Grade One and Grade Two?(2)What are the teachers' attitudes towards teacher-student interaction?This thesis makes a research of the English class in Yining high school that is in Xinjiang province.The selected high school performed a specific classroom teaching mode,here it short as 3,5,2 program,40 minutes per class is divided into ten parts,3/10 of the time for the teachers' teaching display,5/10 of the time for the students' cooperative learning,teachers guiding and 2/10 of the time for the checking and drills to exam the teaching content.The research sample data collected was from classroom observation.This thesis observes the six English classes from Grade One and Grade Two equally,choosing twelve periods used for data analysis.This thesis uses the Flanders Interaction Analysis Categories System to analyze the data on the case and all samples from three dimensions.In order to have a relatively all-round compression about the situation of teacher-student interaction in English classroom,the study interviewed 3teachers in this high school.Based on the data and information collected from the classroom observation and the interview,it found that the amount of student talk is higher than the norm in the class structure,which means the students,can better involve the teacher-student interaction.Analyzing from the control of the class,it found that the teacher more prefer to use the direct talk,meanwhile,the teacher also use indirect talk moderately.From the teaching style,it found that the teacher showing more positive speech.This thesis gives some suggestions for improving the teacher-student interaction.Hoping the teacher can build up a good rapport with students,making the interaction pattern more variable,and designing the activities not only according to the teaching book but also the interest and the need of the students.The teachers also need to focus on the strategies of asking questions and strategies of feedback and compliments,constructing the teacher-student actively.
