The essence and core of science courses in the middle school is scientific exploration.Scientific exploration works on the basis of science experiment and plays an important role in the process of teaching on the science courses.In the experiment teaching,most of teachers have once experienced failure,but could the failed experiments be regarded as in vain with no value?In the middle school,we often set up ideal modes from physics phenomena,which are expressed as function relations among different quantities.However,for specific experiments,error occurs due to constraint of experiment conditions,such as,instrument precision,actual operations,and any other reasons.As what American philosopher John Dewey said,failure is a kind of education,a person who knows what is thinking can learn a lot no matter whether he is successful or not.Therefore,failed experiments have their own value for teaching.In this thesis,we realize quality teaching in the science courses of middle school by analyzing failed experiments.Firstly,we give the definition of failed experiments.According to the Constructivism Learning Theory,Situated Cognition Theory and Piaget’s Theory of Cognitive Development,error experiments in middle school are summarized.We gives the reasons leading to failures of some examples with documentary study,questionnaire survey,examples collection and analysis and other researching methods.The other main content of the thesis is the analysis of typical failed experiments in five aspects,which are learning condition analysis,experiment principle,experimental procedure,failure phenomenon and reasons of failing respectively.Based on the result above,relevant teaching suggestions are given.By the large number of examples collection and analysis,the thesis describes four methods to improve student’s learning with failed experiments and gives corresponding teaching design.Here are the four types of improvement methods,setting new teaching contents with failed experiments,doing researches by comparing successful and failed experiments,raising materials of scientific exploration and warning students with failed experiments.In addition,in order to test the application value of failed experiments,the author analyses the students’ scores and data from questionnaires to test the effects of new teaching methods after carrying out practice in Wenhai Experimental School in Jianggan District,Hangzhou.The results of experiment data confirms that failed experiments effectively enhance students’ ability of analyzing and solving problems,help students gain knowledge and get higher grades as well as train their attitude of seeking truth from facts.We confirm the effects of the thesis’ s theoretical analysis with facts and find remaining problems at the same time.We hope that the thesis could be the reference for other researchers. |
