Student government as an important organization in college is an important auxiliary to reach the education goals.Student government is a self-governing organization where undergraduates can achieve self-education,self-service and self-government.Student government where undergraduates can practice their organization,coordination and communication capabilities is an important platform besides undergraduates' classroom learning.Student government as the primary form where undergraduates achieve self-governing,from the beginning,has the service concept students first,service paramount and has the thorough operation mechanism.It supervises the union's internal management by formulating thorough self-governing constitution and regulations to standardize the operation of the union's internal management work and service project.It has legislation,administration and judiciary.It provides comprehensive service for undergraduates both in study and in life in a highly self-governing mode.According to the research idea literature analysis-inspecting American student government's self-governing history-presenting the ideological foundation of American student government-introducing the operation system of American student government-summarizing the operating characteristics of American student government,this paper mainly studies American student government with several methods.On the basis of presenting American student government's self-governing history,it analyzes the ideological foundation of American student government.It also thoroughly presents American student government 's main rights and liabilities,membership,framework,working pattern and the relation between American student government and other organizations in college to explore American student government 's standard and scientific management system,the student-first and multivariate service pattern and highly self-governing operating mechanism.It also objectively analyzes the shorts of American student government 's operating mechanism so as to regard correctly the advantages and disadvantages of American student government 's operating mechanism.Finally aiming at the shorts that in China college students union plays insufficiently in mechanism and is short of corpus,joining,and serving consciousness,this paper with the research method of comparative analysis contrasts the similarities and differences between Chinese college students union and American student government so as to draw lessons from American student government 's operating mechanism.By analyzing the differences between China and America we should draw lessons from American student government 's operating mechanism and then combine the particular case of our college students union to strengthen the college students union's construction of democracy,build normal management regulations and operating mechanism,develop students union's service and joining functions and its active role in college construction.
