Derived from art psychology, mostly applied to art fields such as art, architecture, design and so on,visual thinking theory is gradually applied in the teaching of the basic subjects, and more used in mathematics and physics.Visual thinking is a kind of thinking activity, which regard visual intention as the operating unit and with the help of the following three aspects: viewing, imagination, the ability of description.By using a variety of sensory methods in teaching to characterize teaching information and make up the limitations of language thinking,it is helpful to motivate students' visual experience and improve learning and teaching efficiency. At the same time,it can stimulate students' creativity, enhance the aesthetic experience of teaching. The application of bringing visual thinking in the research of high school chemistry teaching conforms to the trend of “the era of visual culture ”,and adapts to the transformation of student learning methods.Based on the theory of visual thinking and its related research in the field of education, this paper takes the PEP “Principles of Chemical Reaction” for example and explains how visual thinking is embodied in high school chemistry teaching materials and how visual thinking can be applied to chemistry teaching. The analysis of the illustrations of the Elective 4 “Principles of Chemical Reaction” and the visualization of learning materials can enhance the beauty of textbooks, attract students' attention and reduce the difficulty of students' understanding for micro and abstract chemistry, and thus significantly improve their learning quality and efficiency.Designing teaching content by setting the method goal of cultivating students' visual thinking ability(visual, imagination, composition),taking "electrochemical foundation" as an example, students can be guided to imagine the movement direction of the internal particles, and be encouraged to construct the original battery working principle diagram. In this way students' visual thinking ability to observe, imagine and construct can be cultivated as well. The application of visual thinking in the teaching of chemistry makes students see through the appearance of nature, eliminate obstacles and improve learning ability after mastering visual thinking.“Principles of Chemical reaction” is a theoretical knowledge, and it is the key point and difficulty of the college entrance examination. With the help of visual thinking “to graph the question,to solve the problem”,students cananswer chemistry exercises quickly and effectively. For instance, when solving the problem of “chemical balance”,graphs can be drawn according to the meaning of schematics, and then cultivate students' ability to solve practical problems creatively with the help of iconic thinking activities. This paper discusses the application of visual thinking in chemistry teaching,a specific teaching scheming process and the strategy to solve chemical problems in detail, and illustrates the importance of visual thinking in chemistry teaching and its application value. For teachers, the application of visual thinking in chemistry teaching is a challenge,it can also improve their teaching efficiency. For students,it can break through the curing of thinking, strengthen their own visual thinking ability, and improve their learning efficiency and problem-solving ability effectively.Aiming at existing problems and deficiencies in the subject, the author puts forward the direction of optimizing the research of the subject, focuses on the new research of the related subject research and develops the chemistry curriculum resources based on the visual thinking to form the resource sharing, and further promote the application and practice of visual thinking in chemistry teaching.
