Music education is the aesthetic education of students and the cultivation of students’ aesthetic feelings.Music is usually associated closely with the mind,life experience,and emotional experience.Music education not only has the artistic appeal,but also has the entertainment function.More importantly,it serves an educational role in the society.Therefore,music education is a special kind of education,with special desired functionalities that cannot be found in other disciplines.In music education,music appreciation is an important part of middle school music curriculum system.It not only contains a wealth of music,literature,history and other knowledge,but also enables students to learn to express emotions,to promote the balance of body and mind factors,to coordinate and to advance.It not only allows students to learn knowledge,cultivate and stimulate creative potential in the practice of music art,but also can conform to the law of students’ physical and mental development,and promote the formation and development of students’ audio-visual,aesthetic,emotional attitudes and values.Therefore,the music appreciation class is an important part of music learning,is an important field to cultivate students’comprehensive development,and is an effective way to enhance students’ aesthetic ability of music.However,in the current teaching of Chinese junior high school music appreciation,there are still some common problems,such as valuing music teaching content and background knowledge over the effective listening and subjective feelings of students;such as replacing students with teachers and teaching materials as the center of education;such as over-reliance on multimedia equipment and courseware;such as in the music appreciation class,the teacher’s attention is not enough,the lack of teaching materials,teaching methods,and innovation;such as students’ low participation,lack of enthusiasm and other issues.Music cannot be bordered.Music education should also break through the limitation of disciplines and seek comprehensive and multi-directional development.Addressing the problems above,this article regards the music appreciation course as a unique and comprehensive solution by taking the music appreciation course of the junior middle school section as the research object and combining with the music classroom observation and teaching practice,pedagogy,and psychology.The study of the music appreciation class is divided into "knowledge,emotion,meaning,and action" four stages."Knowing" means cognition;"emotion" refers to emotional experience;"meaning" refers to the will and ideology;"action" refers to the practice of behavior.These four links are the basic frame structure of the music appreciation class,they are closely linked in the teaching process,from the surface to the bone,from the shallow to the deep.It will help students ultimately achieve the realization of"learning and acting".This paper is about the current situation of teaching and learning of music appreciation in junior middle schools.It aims to explore the new method of teaching music appreciation and tries to solve the problems of music appreciation course in junior middle schools in four stages:"knowledge,emotion,meaning and action".There are some suggestions provided in this paper regarding the music appreciation education for junior high schools.The purpose is to guide teachers during the course so that students can enjoy the music appreciation class.As a result,students will better feel the charm of music,appreciate the meaning of music,cultivate a good emotional attitude and values,and enhance music aesthetic ability.
