| With the widespread of study on the backwash effect of language testing,the study of backwash effect is increasing in our country.But they are mainly for major English tests.There is few studies on the backwash effect of JSGT(Junior School Graduation Test)at home,especially about the reading comprehension.It is well known that the reading comprehension accounts for a part in the JSGT,which is very important for students and teachers.The thesis will focus on the backwash effect of JSGT from reading comprehension.240 students from grade 3 and 30 teachers who are teaching grade 3 from Changde City are participants of this thesis.According to the backwash effect theory,questionnaires,classroom observation and analysis of teaching plans and testing papers are adopted.This thesis tries to find out what impact will be caused in teaching and learning by the JSGT reading comprehension tests,whether these impacts are negative or not.What are their comments and suggestions about the tests from teachers and students?The research results show that the JSGT reading comprehension test is not merely affects students and teachers as a whole,but also from attitudes,purpose,methods and resources.From most teachers’ opinion,they think that it has a positive effect on teaching attitudes,teaching methods and teaching resources,while has a negative effect on teaching purposes.From most students’ viewpoint,they think its positive effects surpass negative effects on learning attitudes and learning methods,while its negative effects surpass positive effects on learning purposes and learning resources.At last,both teachers and students are more satisfied with multiple choice than filling in the blanks.According to the results,this thesis also focuses on the correct way to teach English in middle school on the basis of the backwash effect theory,which is beneficial to improve English reading ability and cultivate students’ comprehensive ability. |
