Currently,people have become concerning about university education quality.And class silence which was seen as hinder to improve university class quality engage people's attention.On the basis of collecting class silence performance,the author of this research has investigated three local colleges of Chongqing city based on local college undergraduates class silence survey questionnaire he made up.The questionnaire includes emotional concern about teaching content,active state of mind on learning content,teachers and students interactive exchange state in language and behaviors in process of class four aspects.The author intended to analyze the reasons leading to local university undergraduates 'classroom silence,and find solutions to improve the quality of teaching and learning in class.The research has shown that silence in the classroom situation,where undergraduates in colleges and universities in terms of emotional performance as indifferent to teaching content,thinking as the state is passive,language as insufficient interaction,behaviors in class is widespread.Secondly,through analyzing diversity of gender,specialty,grade and type of college institution and districts,I found that there was no significant difference between gender and districts of local college students,but significant diversity in specialties,grades and type of college institution.According to survey of university undergraduate class silence and analysis results,The author finds that the reasons for the silence in class are teachers,students,culture,schools and so on.The reasons for teachers include teaching style,old teaching content,classroom management awareness;Students' reasons include lack of interest,introversion and conformity;Cultural reasons include face consciousness,network culture,utilitarian culture;The reasons for the school include a wide range of standard curriculum examinations,class size is too large.author attempts to propose recommends from teachers,students and school three aspects.First,teachers should change their single teaching way,strengthen on class management,update teaching content and train students' learning interest;second,students must intense their learning motivation,set right class concept and form good behavior habits;last but not least,authority of school should take narrowing class scale and reforming assessment standards into consideration.
