According to the target that China is going to realize modernization basically in mid twenty-first century,to cultivate billions of high-quality workers and thousands of high-quality talents is related to the development of the socialism.With the rapid development of economy and the high standard for talented people,to help high school students to get self-understanding and career-understanding becomes the central issue of Chinese basic education.It's also important to help students to make plans for their life and realize their value of life.The Opinions on Deepening the Reform of Examination and Enrollment System issued by the State Council in September in 2014 marks that the new college entrance examination officially starts.Students will face the first import choice in their life as soon as they enter high school.For general high schools,their first concern is to help students to know the characteristics of each subject.Then help them to analyses the requirements and employment directions of each college majors.It's also necessary to help students form correct values of life and career.For the pressing need of the society,it is imperative for general high schools to conduct career guidance education.And career guidance education is inherent requirement and necessary condition of Chinese basic education.This paper is going to provide some reference for launching career guidance in general high school by exploring career guidance's pertinence and practicality.This thesis is consisted of four parts.In the first part,it mainly introduces the background and significance of the research.It also talks about the current research status at home and abroad.It introduces the purpose and main content of this paper as well.At last,it expounds author's thoughts and methods to write this paper.The second part mainly refers to the theoretical basic including career development theory and life matching theory.The third part discusses the new college entrance examination.From the policies of Shanghai and Zhejiang province,as the antecedent and experimental cities of new college entrance examination,it's easy for us to know the specific settings and pilot measure of exam subjects including subject selecting,score giving and exam time.Finally,the paper points out the new features and new ideas of the new college entrance examination.The last part deals with geography teachers' vocational guidance.It is necessary for geography teachers to give students vocational guidance under the current situation of general high school.The geography teachers have unique advantages to give vocational guidance because of their own characteristics and geography's features.Furthermore,the paper also points out some principles for vocational guidance education.Guided by these principles,the author tries to explore suitable ways and methods for geography in current environment.Finally,the paper makes some requests to geography teachers in vocational guidance education to ensure the successful implementation and sustained development of vocational guidance education in high school.Through the research of this paper,we hope we will value vocational guidance education highly.It is necessary to complete relevant laws and regulations to promote the successful implementation of vocational guidance in high school.By getting vocational guidance education,students can chose suitable majors and plan their own career development.Finally they will have clear goals in their future life and make contributions to the socialist modernization.
