Analytic geometry is a subject that deals with the problem of geometry with algebra.It is a bridge that connects with geometry and algebra,curves and equations.Analytic geometry is one of the key elements of the college entrance examination.Its score(compulsory question and optional question)accounts for about 20% of the total score,it carries on the comprehensive examination to the student's elementary knowledge,the ability to solve the operation,the exploring consciousness,innovation consciousness,etc.We conducted a questionnaire survey of 294 high school students in Neijiang,Ya'an,Xichang,and Bazhong,and interviewed 10 high school teachers in the four cities.The data analysis software SPSS collated and analyzed the survey data,classified and sorted the interview records as well.Survey results showed that students have the following problems in the study of analytic geometry:first,the basic knowledge is not solid,ignoring the role of teaching materials.Second,the ability of solving problems is poor,especially in the low computing ability.Third,the mathematics exploring consciousness is weak.Forth,they are not familiar with elective content,coordinate system and the parameter equation.Aiming at these problems in the study of analytic geometry,we put forward four teaching suggestions : first,pay attention to teaching materials,lay a solid foundation.Second,moderate skill training,improve operational capability.Third,apply inquiry teaching,develop innovation consciousness.Forth,emphasis on the teaching of elective content,use linear parameter equation flexibly.
