In order to improve the quality of school education,education reform is being carried out around the world.The improvement of the quality of education depends on the quality of teachers,and to a great extent,the quality of teachers depends on the quality of teacher education.Therefore,the improvement of the quality of teacher education is the key to the education reform.Teacher education in China is mainly accomplished through teacher education major or normal major in Colleges and Universities.China is a multi-ethnic country,and with the development of society,the cultural diversity of the school students is becoming more and more prominent,and teachers are facing the challenge of multi-culture.However,in the recent teacher education in China,little attention has been paid to the multicultural quality of teachers.American teacher education pays more attention to the preparation of teachers' multicultural competence,which is more mature in the training theory and training methods.The Elementary Education Program in University of Wisconsin-Madison in the base of teacher education theories,take serious think of the multicultural educational background,meeting the diverse needs of diverse learners,opening modular pluralistic integration courses,strengthening the partnership between the University and schools,making full use of internal and external resources,community culture resources to adapt to the multicultural society and student teachers,has accumulated rich experience,which can provide inspiration for teacher education in China.Thinking from the multicultural problem teacher education in China is facing,selecting the Elementary Education Program in University of Wisconsin-Madison as study object,collecting and analyzing literacy,using literature method,comparative method and case analysis to study the object.Main contents are:the background of the Elementary Program in University of Wisconsin-Madison,including the theoretical basis,the social and cultural diversity,the trend of multicultural education development and social diversification;The idea committing to social justice,focusing on the training of multicultural curriculum and support system;The operation including a focus on multicultural literacy study enrollment,multi-cultural field teaching practice and the evaluation of teachers' multicultural competence;The characteristics of and its influence: paying attention to social justice,respecting cultural diversity,emphasizing inquiry teaching and carrying out cultural sensitivity teaching.And its adaptation to the development of multicultural society,enriching the theory of teacher education,guiding the professional development of teachers,and enhancing the teaching quality of Teachers etc.According to the study,what teacher education in China can learn from are as follows: paying attention to teachers' multicultural competence,and adding relevant assessment standards;developing courses to prepare teachers' multicultural competence;paying attention to the diversity of teaching practice and strengthening the guidance of cooperating teachers.
