| Listening,speaking,reading and writing are four major aspects in English study.Among them,the writing ability can represent students’ communication and application ability.Meanwhile,writing ability is one of occupational needs.However,vocational English writing is the weak point of students for a very long time.There are a series of problems existing in English class.For example,English writing teaching is ignored,and students are passive because of the boring class.Thus,it is an urgent problem to find out an approach which is appropriate for the vocational English writing class and improve students writing ability and interest.Many students in vocational school are lack of effective instruction and training in English writing.The students’ writing ability is limited,and The basic knowledge of English is weak.Students are not interested in English Writing.Some of them even have the fear of emotions to English writing.So English teachers in vocational school also worry the present situation of English writing.In order to improve the present situation of English writing in vocational school,the researcher applies cooperative learning to the English writing class.The researcher does this experiment with the purpose of improving students’ writing abilities and cultivating their writing interests.The questions of the research are as follows: 1)Can cooperative learning approach better enhance students’ English writing interest? 2)Can cooperative learning approach improve students’ writing strategies and cooperative ability? 3)Can cooperative learning approach improve students’ English writing ability? This experiment selects two parallel classes in Shijiazhuang Railway Transport School.There are 70 students in total in the two classes.One class is the experimental class,while the other is the control class.The experiment lasts sixteen weeks.Students in the experimental class are taught by cooperative learning approach in English writing class,while the students in the control class are taught by the traditional approach in English writing class.In the experiment,pre-test,post-test,and questionnaires are used to collect data.The collected data from the experiment is analyzed by SPSS 17.0.Through analysis and comparison,the researcher finds the feasibility and validity of cooperative learning approach applied to English writing class in vocational school.In conclusion,the students in experimental class have become more interested in English writing than before.Cooperative learning approach can improve students’ writing strategies and cooperation ability,it can also improve students’ English writing ability.The researcher hopes the research in the experiment can provide some help for the future study of cooperative learning. |
