The strategic status and significance of the excellent Chinese traditional culture are becoming increasingly prominent since the 18 th CPC National Congress.The inheritance and innovation of the excellent Chinese traditional culture concerns the spiritual pursuit of nation,the reserves of national strategic resources and the national modernization process.Comrade Xi emphasized that we must root in the special history,culture and conditions of our country to develop our own higher education and build socialism universities with Chinese characteristics solidly.The excellent traditional culture involves ideological and cultural resources,which has guiding significance for the ideological and political education innovation of universities with its inheritance and innovation.This article elaborates the inner logic-relationship between the excellent Chinese traditional culture and the innovation of ideological and political education from theory and practice respectively.Chapter one analyzes the modern implication of Chines traditional culture from the view of modernity which involves the value across time and space,the significance of reality and culture,the foundation of ideological and cultural education.The value across time and space is embodied from three aspects of thought,value and practice.The significance of reality and culture involves promoting personal quality,driving Chinese Dream,constructing harmonious society,building eco-city,stimulating cultural awakening,cohering national emotion.The foundation of ideological and cultural education involves education,guidance and ascription which guarantee the personal development and the positive operation of society.Chapter two makes a deep analysis of Chinese traditional roots in ideological and cultural education throughout its development,and elaborating the Chinese traditional culture resources of ideological and cultural education from three aspects of ideology,academy and education.The purpose of that is to design activities of ideological and cultural education from the themes of morality,art and politics.Chapter three will combine theories with practice to analyze the possibility of the Chinese traditional activities in ideological and cultural education,which involves ideas and practice of design.Respectively,the idea involves center,main line,dimension and procedure;the practice involves three thematic activities of “Li”,“Ren”,“Yue”.The concluding part overviews the whole paper and emphasizes its necessity and importance,and finally reflects the deficiencies of the paper.
