A Research On The Ideological And Political Education Value Of The Universities’ School Mottos

University is the high ground of human civilization,social ethics and spiritual culture.It protects the conscience,fairness and justice of the whole society and thus it is regarded as the moral high ground.School motto of the university is the top design of the university’s spirit and the standard configuration of the modern university.It demonstrates the tradition of the school and reflects the spirit of the time and the philosophy of the school management.As an invisible cultural bond,it links the teachers,students,and staff of the university on the one hand and its alumni and the society on the other hand,during which it plays an irreplaceable role in leading culture,adjusting value,and sustaining spirit.School motto affects not only the university and its stakeholders,but also the social members outside the campus of the university.In university,school motto is the important means to regulate the school,the vital form of implementing ideological and political education,and the fertile soil for all teachers and students.In society,school motto of the university goes with the socialist core values and alarms the students who have graduated from the school.Paying attention to study the ideological and political education value of the university’s school motto will develop the ideological and political education,enrich the content form of the ideological and political education,increase the methods of the ideological and political education,enhance the resources of the ideological and political education,and finally accomplish the goals of the ideological and political education.It is of great value in the research of the ideological and political education.This research is mainly composed of four parts:The first part is an overview of the school mottoes of the universities.This chapter firstly expounds the connotation of the school motto of the university.The author analyzes the connotations from the perspectives of history and reality.Through reading the school mottoes of some China’s universities,the author finds that the school motto has intrinsic ideological and political education value.Secondly,this chapter analyzes the components of the school motto of the university.Finally,this chapter discusses the characteristics of the school motto of the university.This chapter provides a more accurate and comprehensive understanding of the school motto of the university.The second part is about the evolution and current situation of the school motto of the China’s universities.This chapter interprets the evolution the school motto of the university from the early stage,the trough stage,the sluggish stage,and the developmental stage.In addition,this chapter provides a realistic foundation for studying the school motto’s ideological and political education value of the university through analyzing the achievements and deficiencies of the school motto of the China’s universities.The third part analyzes the school motto’s ideological and political education value of of the university.This chapter is the main part of the thesis and discusses the overall status quo of the school motto of the China’s universities.It explores the significance and role of the school motto of the university in the objectives,content,methods,and resources of the ideological and political education.The fourth part is about the means to realize the school motto’s ideological and political education value of of the university.This chapter discusses the methods of accomplishing the school motto ‘s ideological and political education value of the university through learning the content of exploring the cultural connotation of the school motto of the university,increasing the effective carries to realize the value of the school motto of the university,creating the environment for realizing the value of the school motto of the university,and learning the beneficial experiences the school motto of the foreign universities.
