Reading is an important activity in human society.It is one of the efffictive ways for mankind to absorb the outstanding culture,basic knowledge,and to heightenour aesthetic interests.In the middle school literature reading,narrative readingis the base for students to read other literary genres.Reading teaching of junior high school students especially emphasize narrative reading,as narrative reading is the most important way to cultivate students' reading ability,writing ability,and to improve their Chinese accomplishment.In this paper,we investigated the current teaching situation of narrative reading in junior high school.On the basis of the current situation,considering the language features,narrativecharacteristics and the theme of narrative texts,this paper applied the method of Close Readingto narrative reading,and put forward specific narrative close reading strategies in junior high school.The paper is divided into three chapters:The first chapter mainly inspects the present situation of reading teaching of narrative.In the process of deepening the teaching practice,we found out the main problems of narrative teaching in junior middle school.The causation of the problems varies,while teachers' teaching orientation,their comprehension of the new curriculum,and their teaching ability are the most important reasons.This chapter also analysed teachers' teaching method for narrative teaching and how students study in class,the analysis was based on our investigation.The second chapter discusses the feasibilityis and effectiveness for applying Close Reading to narrative teaching of junior middle school.First,we analyzed the Close Reading theory.Then,considering narrative texts,features and the objctive of narrative reading in junior middle school,we demonstrated the significance of Close Reading's application.At the same time,the principles of applying Close Reading in narrative teaching are also stressed.The third chapter reaserches practical strategiesis for narrative close reading of junior middle school.According to narrative texts'form of language,narrative features,based on the basic theory of Close Reading,we expanded the view of Close Reading by using modern Narratology,then put forward three strategiesis for narrative close reading of junior middle school.The strategies are:"Language reading","Context reading ",and"Narrate reading".The specific teaching methods of using these strategies in class is elaboratedbyteaching cases.At the end of the thesis,two questionnaires are attached,one is"Inquiry on junior middle school students' narrative study",and the other one is "Inquiry on application of Close Reading in the reading teaching of junior middleschool(for teachers)".
