With the improvement of China's international status, the government has attached more and more importance to the international level of education. As the English teaching staffs directly determine the international level of personnel training,the improvement on English teaching staffs has become one of the key elements for the primary and secondary schools.The local governments located in remote areas are under more stress facing the exam-oriented education, since the quality of English teaching staffs will directly affect the college entrance examination rate. It is even more important to build a teacher-team with excellent quality, reasonable structure and distinctive characteristics to meet the needs of passing the college entrance examination. Therefore, in order to help the local government of M city find shortcomings in the structure of English teacher-team in senior high schools, investigating the current situation of English teacher-team in M city has become the topic of the author's research report. By adopting methods of questionnaire and personnel interview, the author makes investigation on the structure of English teacher-team in senior high schools of M city.Taking four ordinary senior high schools as examples (vocational senior high school not included), the author attends to analyze the problems existing in the structure of English teaching staffs from the following five aspects: teachers' gender structure, age structure, academic degree structure, professional title structure and academic origin structure. Based on the problems above, the author finds out the hidden reasons and puts forward some suggestions on how to improve the English teacher-team structures in senior high school. On one hand, it can provide reference for local educational institution's decisions-making and readjustment. On the other hand, it is also helpful to promote the internal development for teachers of English, so as to improve the teacher-team of English in structure quality on the whole in senior high schools.
