As a new theory,memetic has aroused the widespread concern of scholars in our country in recent years.At the same time,memetic provides a theoretical basis for the development of the language.As English is a language,the application of memetic to the English teaching has caused many domestic scholars to focus and research,and the practical researches have proved that the application of memetic to the English teaching has obvious advantages and functions.English has attracted the extensive attention from the society,schools,families,teachers and students because of being the international commonly used language in the world.However,there are many aspects of oral English teaching still remain to be improved in school English teaching,such as,oral English teaching model is immaturity,students' oral English expression is not idiomatic,fluent and accurate,students don't have enough chance to express in English etc.So this study will apply memetic to oral English teaching in junior middle schools to try to improve students' oral English level,provide some useful methods of learning oral English for students,provide some models and suggestions for English teachers in teaching oral English.This study summaries the literatures of memetic at home and abroad,adopts some research techniques such as questionnaire,interview,experiment and test,make a theoretical explanation of the application of memetic to the oral English teaching in junior high schools.The author chooses two parallel classes in Grade Two to conduct a comparative experiment by applying memetic to oral English teaching in junior high schools.The author uses questionnaire and interview to make an investigation of students' interests in learning oral English and the problems existing in the oral English teaching,and test the students oral English ability in these two classes respectively before and after the experiment,and employ the SPSS19.0 statistical software to analyze these data.The experiment results show that the application of memetic to the oral English teaching in junior high schools play a very important part in enhancing the students' interest in learning oral English,improving the fluency and accuracy of students' oral English and enriching students' oral English expression.Finally,the author puts forward some suggestions in applying memetic to the oral English teaching in junior high schools,such as English teachers should put up the oral expression platform for students to provide opportunity to speak English,attach importance to reciting the classic passages to lay the foundation for expressing oral English,improve the practice of imitating to lay the foundation for students to speak English fluently and accurately,and pay attention to the teaching of genotype and phenotype memes to store resources for students to communicating in English.
