A Case Study On The Social Support Network For The Caregiver Of Mentally Retarded Adolescent

According to World Health Organization budget,about six hundred million people in the world.One of Chinese existing disabled 83 million ,involving family population 260 million.The number of people with intellectual disabilities accounts for about 1/5 of the total.Problem of mentally retarded adolescent is the most serious in the people with intellectual disabilities,caregiver for mentally retarded adolescent has all kinds of problems and challenges.This' essay uses professional case work,helping client:caregiver for mentally retarded adolescent.Hope to solve problems of mentally retarded adolescent and help them to restore normal social life through the construction of social support network.This essay takes shenhe district of shenyang's Sunshine house's W family for instance,expounding case work study on the social support network for the caregiver of mentally retarded adolescent.Interview caregiver's family and neighbor for mentally retarded adolescent,and in order to understand problems and social support networks about caregiver for mentally retarded adolescent.Form formal and informal social support networks,building social support networks for caregivers,achieve the purpose of helping people to help themselves.This paper defines the relevant concepts of mentally retarded adolescent and caregivers by examining a large number of domestic and foreign literature, and sets out the most suitable working methods.The social support network theory in the social work as a support, through family visits, community interviews, institutional questionnaires and other methods to understand the problems faced by caregivers and their social support network status.This paper chooses the case work , from the social workers to accept the case,estimating the case of the main situation,the development of goals and action programs, involved in the issue of the owner, to assess the implementation of the completion of the target and the final case, Caregivers build a social support network so that caregivers and their mentally retarded adolescents can be confident and face the future.At the end of this paper, through the social work of the caregivers of the participants experience, to improve the life of mentally retarded caregivers for the relevant conclusions, and on this basis, put forward their own mentally retarded caregivers to build social support network some suggestions, such as:The informal social support network, including the establishment of mutual help parents, rich community cultural and recreational activities, family relations lectures; formal social support network, including the establishment of a mentally retarded youth social security system,the establishment of more special education schools,,social work agencies to strengthen publicity, to carry out professional care knowledge lectures and activities.
