At present,the national high school mathematics curriculum being discussed regards the data analysis literacy as one of the six core mathematical literacy.Clarifying the elements of data analysis literacy and figuring out the stage characteristics of students' data analysis in compulsory education can better promote the development of civil data analysis literacy.So that editors more specific and clearly put forward the relevant objectives and requirements,so that teachers are more focused to develop students' data analysis and literacy.The research defines the four elements of the data analysis literacy,using the literature analysis method,according to the related mathematics curriculum standards and existing related literature.That is knowledge&skills,problem solving,mathematical thinking and emotional attitudes.For knowledge&skills,the author organizes the relevant knowledge and skills that students need to learn at different stages,combining with curriculum standards and math textbooks for Shanghai.We get whole process of knowledge&skills in the compulsory education stage of Shanghai,in order to determine the stage of the students participating in the test and the representative grade.For problem solving,mathematical thinking and emotional attitudes,this study uses the questionnaire test method.The questionnaire is based on students'understanding of probabilistic statistics courses and existing research related to data analysis,statistical literacy,statistical variability,etc.It was devised to 631 students in grades 3,4,6,and 8 in five schools in Shanghai.Combining Zhang Dan's(2015)data analysis concept evaluation framework and Waston's(2003)hierarchical coding method based on cognitive development structure,the research analyzes students'written answers qualitatively and quantitatively using Excel software.Based on the questionnaire outcomes,this study presents the formation and development process for data analysis literacy in the certain aspects.At last,combining the study outcomes with the relevant content of national standards in different countries,the research gives suggestions on cultivating students'data analysis literacy:(1)Paying attention to whole process of statistical activities;(2)Considering the cultivation of students' data analysis literacy in different areas of mathematical content;(3)Improving teaching methods and means,properly using auxiliary tools such as computer software,calculators,etc.
