Mathematics situation can not only stimulate students' interest in learning,and mobilize the students' study enthusiasm, but also can cultivate students'autonomous learning awareness which contribute to the long-term development of students. Situation, in the most of the current senior high school mathematics classroom, did not bring the corresponding teaching effect to us. The fundamental cause of that is that the lack of understanding the function of mathematical situation and the inaccuracy grasp of the choose of mathematics situation. The main problems in this paper is the criterion of the effectiveness of situation. This paper mainly discusses that the function of mathematics situation, the present situation of mathematics situational teaching and the criterion of the effectiveness of situation. Therefore, the research on the effectiveness of mathematics situational teaching in senior high school is an efficient method to improve the teaching and learning, which can provide research foundation and suggestions for the textbook writing.This paper focuses on curriculum, teaching materials, and teaching cases, to proceed the characteristics of mathematical situations and teaching status by literature, case analysis, action research and interviews, finally come to the conclusion.At last, the main conclusions of this article is that mathematics situation embodies five prominent characteristics such as authenticity, enlightening, pertinence, level differences and interactive. On the current status of application of mathematics situational teaching in senior high school has the following misunderstanding:the situation is independent of teaching,which divorced form reality, the mathematics situational teaching weaken as mathematics questions, and the unreasonable use of virtual and formal situation. The judgment of the effectiveness of the situation must follow the following six principles:the situation must be scientific and practical; the situation should arouse the curiosity and inspire the thought of students; situation should coincide with the students'cognitive level, which has the application of development; situation should easy to handle in teaching and reflect the effectiveness. The conclusion of this paper provide a series of practical principles for the choices of the mathematics situational teaching in the future senior high school stage.
