| English writing is an indispensable part in English studying that senior high school students are required to master.Nowadays,the situation of students’ writing is not optimistic since varieties of problems exist in their writing process and products.For the teachers,they put more attention to correcting students’ writing errors than solving the obstacles during students’ writing process.They tend to pay less attention to the cultivation of students’ writing ability,the emotional exchanges between teachers with students and students’ themselves.Process-genre approach combines the teaching advantages of product approach,process approach and genre approach,indicating that writing should include linguistic knowledge,contextual knowledge,writing purpose and writing skills.The process-genre approach aims to provide enough input for the writer,mobilize the writing potential,and make the writer have the effective output.Students were given autonomy in the class so that they become the masters of the English classroom.In order to test the effectiveness of the process genre approach,the author chooses two classes as the experimental subjects from Grade One in a senior high school in Henan Province.Each class has 60 students.The Experimental class applied the process genre approach,while the control class adopted the traditional teaching methods.This study adopted questionnaire survey to find out the current teaching problem in senior high school.Through SPSS,statistical software,the author analyzed the two classes’ writing scores in pre-test and post-test.The results show that compared with the traditional product approach,the process-genre approach can activate classroom atmosphere and arouse students’ enthusiasm.Students’ writing ability has been improved obviously,for which writing’ content is relatively rich,and the written errors reduce largely.There are two questions to be discussed.The first one is what are the effects of process-genre approach on senior high school students’ writing competence? The second one is what are the changes of students’ attitude towards English writing after application of the process approach in English class?This thesis takes a series of instruments to explore the effectiveness of process-genre approach.It proves that the process-genre approach can improve students’ comprehensive language skills distinctly,broaden students’ writing mind,enrich students’ writing contents and reduce their writing errors.Some proposals on process-genre approach application on writing have been suggested in the end of thesis. |
