Research On Ethnic Interaction And Ethnic Identity

The Republic of the Philippines is an island country in Southeastern Asia.For the geographic barriers by sea,the living condition and economic development has formed distinguished ethnic culture.Bicol ethnic group is the fourth biggest ethnic group in the Philippines.Bicolano scatter near the sea on the southeastern Luzon peninsula,with farming and fishing as their main means of subsistence.As the second largest ethnic group,Tagalog people live in the center and southern part of Luzon,playing the leading role of national politics,economics and culture.With the development of economic integration,the relationship between the two ethnic groups is getting deeper.The paper focuses on the settlement of Bicolano people in Barangay Hulong Duhat.Basing on the fieldwork,this thesis is to describe the interaction and ethnic identity between Bicolano and Tagalog people on ethnic group related theory,also discusses the elements,basic characteristics and development trend of the ethnic relationship in Barangay Hulong.
