Textbook book is content of courses which on the basis of the educational purposes and requirements, and it is the primary source of knowledge in teaching activities. Textbook holds a significant position in curriculum, teaching theory and practice, and it shows the achievements of biology educational curriculum reform. As the important carrier of course content, the comparative research of textbook is the constant hot topic in the research and reform of international programs.This article briefly introduces UK education system and CIE A-Level course, comparative research systematically between the senior high textbooks of PEP edition and CIE A-Level biology textbook by studying historical documents, comparative researching and graphic statisticing. Firstly, the organization structures and content selection of the two editions of textbook are compared in a macroscopic view, then the cover, column, illustration, format and languages of the two editions of textbook are compared in a microcosmic view. Compared particular experiment of the two editions of textbook after analyzing the comment arrangement of them, and choose the classic biology knowledge of cytobiology and genetics of the them to be compared.Advantage and disadvantage were summarized based on analyzing and comparing the compilation characteristics of textbooks systematically. Finally, recommendations for further revising and compiling biology textbook based on the situation of our curriculum and textbook reform and the benefits and features of CIE A-Level biology textbook.
