With the rapid development of computer and Internet technology, the way in which the knowledge transmits has been changed a lot. The new media, such as “micro-blog” and “WeChat”, have been raising more and more concern and got recognized, which have had a huge influence and inspiration on education. Instead of bald and single, the spread of knowledge should be convenient and various, for the purpose of helping learners master core knowledge in a short time. In this context, the micro-course emerges and becomes the most fashionable way of learning, with the feature of relatively less learning content, at the same time, it is flexible.As the economic globalization speeds up in China, we have placed increasing emphasis on English teaching and application. The National English Curriculum Standard for General High School(hereinafter referred to as New Curriculum) has put forward new demands for the basic ideology of high school English teaching. The New Curriculum focuses on fostering the self-study ability of learners, strengthens the application of modern educational technology in education, changes the traditional teaching ideas of teachers and fulfills the student-centered classroom as it is. The flipped classroom model is a subversion of traditional classroom model, which has caused widely public attention when it appeared. Meanwhile, practice has proven that the flipped classroom model has great influence on self-study ability and exploring learning ability. So it coincides with the ideology of the New Curriculum.This thesis combines the demands of the New Curriculum with the features of micro-course and studies the application of flipped classroom model based on micro-course in high school English teaching from the theoretical and practical aspects. A set of micro-course model suitable to high school English teaching are designed by employing contrast experiment case analysis. The major findings of the research are as follows: students in the experimental class are more positive than those of the control class when learning English; the listening level of the experimental class is improved; the oral English level of the experimental class is improved; it may be a little hard to improve their reading ability by micro videos only; it needs more time to improve their writing ability.At the end of the thesis, the author summarizes the limitations of micro-course in high school English teaching and points out where we are heading for. With the development of the education, more and more schools regard the multimedia technology as an auxiliary tool. So in the future, it will be a trend to widely apply the micro-course to senior high school English class.
