Teachers' level directly decides the school-running level of university and quality of talent cultivation, so promoting the development and the professional level of teachers becomes the key to the connotative development of university. In recent years, universities in our country fully realize the importance of teachers' development, and build the teachers' development system and center for faculty development. The key is to develop school-based project for faculty development to meet the demand of the university so as to improve the ability and professional level of teachers authentically. Therefore it is significant theoretically and practically to study the improvement strategy of school-based project for faculty development systematically.According to adult learning theory and teachers' career development theory, this study draw lessons from the experience of excellent faculty development projects of foreign universities after the literature review and concept definition, and then carried on the questionnaire survey and interview survey which set the fifteen provincal universities as research object. The survey found that center for faculty development is in charge of most of the school-based projects for faculty development, and the projects of new teachers' development and information-technology improvement have been exploited generally. However there are some problems and deficiencies, such as lack of perfect organization of school-based project for faculty development, scientific theoretical guidance and demand analysis, diversity, flexible, and targeted projects, the service and teachers' paticipation of project need to be improved, lack of sound project evaluation and feedback mechanism.This study puts forward the improvement strategies of school-based project for faculty development from four aspects. In terms of notion, we should base on university and emphasis the function of service; In terms of organization, we should improve the construction of project institution and work team; In terms of system, we should establish rules of teachers' assessment, motivation, evaluation and feedback of project, and mechanisms of capital introduction and financial supervision; In terms of technology, we should pay attention to requirements' analysis, projects' design and feedback evaluation, etc.
