Class exercises are an indispensable link in the geography classroom teaching and an effective platform for student-teacher interaction. Making good use of classroom exercises not only helps the students consolidate the knowledge, practice the students'thinking during exercises, but also tests the teachers' classroom effectiveness. However, looking into the real classroom, teachers' classroom exercises are not sufficient and the effect is not significant, either. Therefore, in the context of the new curriculum, exploring the effective strategies in geography classroom exercises and improving the efficiency of classroom exercises is important based on teaching and learning.This paper analyses the current status of geography classroom exercises through interviews and questionnaires about teachers and students, and gives examples of problem cases discussed strategies for improving the effectiveness of classroom exercises according to the content of the Geography textbook for Grade Seven by Hunan Education Press.This paper is composed by three parts:introduction, body and conclusion. Introduction, first it analyses the background of this paper, defines the theoretical significance of the thesis, analyses the situation at home and abroad of high school class combined with relevant literature. At last it points out the research methods. Body, it is composed by the geography classroom effective exercises overview, grade geography class analysis and geography classroom exercises effective strategy. In the geography classroom effective exercises overview section, first it defines the relevant core concepts, then refers to a geographical classification of classroom exercises, sums up the role of geography classroom exercises and relates the theories. In the analysis of classroom exercises of Grade Seven students' present situation section, taking Guangyi Experimental Middle School students in Changsha, Hunan for example, it analyses the current situation of middle school geography class teaching from the results of the teachers and students by personal interviews and a survey. Based on the above analysis, it targets the effective policy of the geography classroom exercises, supplemented by the cases. Conclusion, it summarizes and refines the body part, and points out the deficiencies.
