In 2012, the three major MOOC platforms Udacity, Coursera and edX have been established successively, and MOOC set off a boom around the world. The New York Times named the year of 2012 is "Year of the MOOC". In 2013, China joined the trend and began to explore the new MOOC network education model. Xuetangx, the first MOOC platform in China, has experienced more than two years of development since October 2013 until now. During the two years, Xuetangx had been expanding the course category from the famous universities around the world and made a big progress in technology and product development.This thesis attempts to describe the current situation of MOOC in China with using the Xuetangx platform as an example.The thesis consists of five parts:chapter one"introduction", chapter two "rational recognition of MOOC", chapter three "the core implementation of MOOC——a case study of Xuetangx", chapter four "The comparison between MOOC and traditional network education" and the conclusion.Chapter one is the introduction part. It mainly introduces the research background, research significance, research status and research methods.Chapter two introduces the concept and history of MOOC. Chapter three is the main part of the thesis. The course products, data products, community products and terminal products are described in detail. From the point of view of learner type, the course products are divided into two categories, one is for all learners, namely MOOC, one is for specific learners, namely SPOC. MOOC course products which are divided into three patterns, the traditional frequency type, self-service mode and independent knowledge points. After the introduction of the product design of MOOC and SPOC, I makes a comparative analysis of them. Chapter four compared MOOC and traditional network education. This part reviews the history of traditional network and describes the characteristics of the products in the Internet age, finally analyses the different between MOOC and traditional network education. The conclusion part is the summary of the previous parts and also draws an outlook for the future of MOOC.
