Leadership behaviors are rooted in different cultural areas and have an important impact on society,especially for leaders of government departments.The effectiveness of leadership does not emphasize the leader's own desires,but is largely constrained by the interaction with the subordinates and the environment.Patriarchal leadership is a combination of patriarchal and leadership styles.It emphasizes that leaders have kindness,integrity,and a high degree of authority.It has produced a multitude of philosophical wisdoms such as Chinese Confucianism,Taoism,and Law,and more and more evidence shows that paternalistic leadership is widely used in various organizations and has an impact on organizational effectiveness.At the same time,with the service-oriented government's proposal service becomes the inevitable choice of the government function,which not only needs to change the organization structure,operation mechanism and behavior mode of the government,but also needs the public servants to have strong public service motivation.Therefore,under the background of Chinese culture,it is of great practical significance to discuss paternalistic leadership and public service motivation.This article takes a sample of some civil servants in Jiangsu Province as a sample of the survey.Descriptive statistics,correlation analysis,and regression analysis are used to measure civil servants' paternalistic leadership styles and public service motives,and demonstrate that paternalistic leaders have a certain influence on public service motivation..The full text consists of five chapters:The first part is the introduction,which mainly introduces the theme of the article.The second chapter is the literature review.It gives a comprehensive summary and induction of paternalistic leadership and public service motivation,and provides a sufficient theory for the proposal of research hypothesis.The third chapter is the research design,which describes the research hypothesis,sample design,collection,and data processing methods.The fourth chapter is empirical analysis.The results of data analysis are used to analyze the status of paternalistic leadership,public service motivation,and paternalistic leadership of public services.The impact of motivation is the role;the fifth chapter is the conclusions and deficiencies of the study,and on the basis of summarizing the above empirical results,suggestions are put forward,and the deficiencies and improvements of this study are pointed out.The empirical results show that the civil servants' perception level of paternalistic leadership style is higher in this study,and there is a significant difference in the public service motives of the sampled civil servants in terms of age,length of service,rank,and work unit;and in the examination of recruitment/transfer/military transfer There are also significant differences between the leaders;paternalistic leaders have a role in promoting and promoting the public service motivation and its various dimensions.The more obvious the paternalistic style of leadership,the higher the motivation of subordinates' public services;and the different leadership dimensions of public service motivation.The degree of influence varies.Specifically,the influence of virtue leadership on public service motivation is greater than that of benevolent leadership.The role of the authoritarian leadership is not significant.Through the above conclusions,we can clearly recognize the effect of paternalistic leadership on public service motivation,and thus help to improve public service motivation for civil servants.
