The Consumerism In China And Its Impact On The Youth

With the reform and opening up,China has undergone great social change.So far,as the economic system reformed from the planned economy system to the market economy system,China has basically established a relatively complete socialist market economic system,this reform greatly promoted the development of China’s social productivity.Faced with these massive changes,the government has reduced the intervention in the field of private life,and then the Chinese people get more freedom in the field of personal development.On the other hand,with the development of economy and the enlargement of the opening up,the Western consumerism began to spread into China in the tide of globalization,and it has intertwined with our social conditions and gradually evolved into the China’s current popular consumerism.The consumerism in China not only could cause the waste of resources,environmental pollution and social dilemma,but also cause bad impact on the young individuals such as moral problems and identity crisis.In this dissertation,I will begin with the analysis of the evolution of consumerism in China,after studying the irrational consumption of youth,and then find out the impact on the youth generation caused by the consumerism.In the end of the paper,I will give some suggestion on how the youth people develop the healthy consumption lifestyle.This paper mainly consists of four parts.The first part revealed the formation process of China’s current consumption from the perspective of social transformation.The second part discusses some main characteristics of China’s current consumption under the background of social transformation.The third part explores the plight caused by the consumerism and the impact on the young generation.The fourth part this paper tries to provide some methods to help the youth foster the healthy consumption lifestyle.
