With the rapid economic development in the 21th century,the gap between urban and rural areas has increased,More rural residents move from rural areas to cities in order to pursue a better life.With the increase of migrant workers,the number of life-behind children have increased as well.The absence of parents has a great impact on the family relations,left-behind children realistic interpersonal situation and lonely experience.With the rapid development of the Internet,the popularity rate of mass media has been increasing year by year,and the use of mass media among the left-behind children has become a common phenomenon.However,researchers tend to overgeneralize their media us emotives.Most of them come up with two conclusions:information needs and spiritual comfort.Recent research has focused on loneliness as one aspect of mental health the different sources of loneliness,loneliness can be multi-dimensional,including emotional loneliness and social loneliness.due to dissatisfaction with different social relations,emotional loneliness comes from being dissatisfied with family relations and romantic relationships.Social loneliness comes from the actual interpersonal relationships and virtual quasi-social interactions not satisfied.How the relationship between left-behind children's media use and these two types of loneliness still lacks systematic research.Based on the theory of "Uses and gratifications",this study surveyed 566 students from two secondary schools in Susong County,Anhui Province.We included 391 left-behind students Among them as our sample to understand their use of media in learning and life.We usedSPSS 17.0 statistical analysis software to analyze the relationship between the various media and the left-behind children's loneliness as well as the influence of the relationship between parents and the media and loneliness,to explore the influence of emotional loneliness,and social loneliness on left-behind children's Media use.In a further in-depth interview,we selected a total of 40 students with the highest and lowest scores of loneliness among left-behind and non-left-behind students in the study,and analyzed the relationship between their media use and loneliness.The results showed in contrast to non-left-behind children,the use of media in terms of gender,grade,boarding and staying status,as well as the type of boarding that left behind.In terms of differences in demographic variables,students,sense of loneliness;left-behind children's satisfaction with parents and their relationship with parents were significantly related to left-behind children's media use and emotional loneliness;social activities of left-behind children and social interaction with left-behind children Media use was significantly associated with social loneliness,and the use of media was associated with emotional isolation and social loneliness in left-behind children.On the basis of these results,we made further in-depth interviews,and the results show that children for mobile phone and computer use can alleviate the parents in the emotional side to bring loneliness behind,mobile phone and computer and other media played a role in sustained release home alone in a certain extent;left-behind children's media use entertainment and social activities is positively related to the use of media to maintain peer relationship and influencing the development of the major;through the mobile phone media and media characters of quasi social interaction,can alleviate the left-behind children's loneliness in a certain extent.In depth interviews for non left-behind children in rural areas,we find that children in the school environment and the peer's identity and belongingness,to continue exchanges with their friends in the school environment using mobile phone media;the loneliness of non-left-behind children and parents communicate low relative active and frequent,more direct expression of their own the ideas and wishes to parents,have a close relationship with the family economic level and educational level of parents of children in rural areas;process of social interaction,through the mobile phone,associate with online and offline content is basically the same,the lower line of communication and online are complementary extension of the line under the scope of communication relative limited to mobile phone media as the carrier in the network of social contacts with different groups.
