Marx’s Theory Of Communication And Its Value Implication

Communication is a way for human beings to exist. With the fast development of economic globalization and cultural diversity, everyone in the world inevitably has been involved in the global communication. Therefore, to make further research on Marx’s theory of communication is quite significant in this connectivity era.Marx’s theory of communication is not only the kernel theory of Marxist philosophy, but also the theoretical achievements by which Marx surpassed rational metaphysics and realized a philosophy revolution. Any academic thoughts cannot be created without foundation, but need to be established on the thoughts and theories of the predecessors. Before Marx, the ancient Greek philosophers had put forward the idea of language communication, "people are the political animal", and modern philosophers had put forward the theory of social contract,the ethics of responsibility,the theory of human nature, and so on. All of these constituted the ideological origin of Marx’ s communication theory.Marx’s theory of communication was reflected in his works of every period of his life. In this article, we surveyed the texts from his Doctoral Dissertation to his Anthropological Notes, and sorting out the generation history of the theory,expanding the range of the study. Based on the interpretation of these texts, we revealed the evolutional process of the theory in a more complete way.Marx’s theory of communication is the significant content of his historical materialism. This thesis discussed his theory of communication from the perspective of historical materialism. Through the comparison between the concept of communication and production relations, the article indicated the differences and connections of the two concepts,and thus defined the concept of communication.Also, the article elaborated the theory from the perspective of social development and the all-round development of human being, suggested its motive role in both developments, and highlighted the theory in Marxist philosophy. In addition, the article,from the perspective of "self "and "others",presented dialogues between Marx and some modern western thinkers, such as Husserl, Habermas, Levinas,showing the extension of the theory in contemporary society.Only being established on realistic society and by continuous study on frontiers’theories, can philosophy gain theoretical growing points and highlight its value in contemporary society. This article indicated the value of Marx’s theory of communication from the aspects of theory and practice. By the elaboration of the communications between human and nature, human being and human being, human being and his ’self, the article revealed the theoretical and realistic significance in transformation of thinking model, the evolution of humanism, the socialist construction path with Chinese characteristics and human being’s own development,and thereby enriched the academic and practical value of Marx’s theory of communication.
