The data analysis and comparison based on 117 corruption cases of institutes of higher education from 2000-2014 show that corruption in institutes of higher education and government corruption have much similarities on features of corruption object and corruption behavior. Compared with government corruption, the most distinctive feature of the corruption in institutes of higher education is the consistency with gove rnment corruption features. Trough analyzing the theory of institutional isomorph of new institutionalism, we can find that the reason of such similarities lies in the conver gence between the institutes of higher education and government in higher education field. The two subjects share not only isomorph in their organization structure and go verning mecha-nism, but also similar bureaucratic culture, influenced by the shadow of market econ-omic culture.In order to avoid the influences of the theory of instituti onal isomorph new institutionalism on corruption in institutes of higher education and to reduce the frequency of that case, we should, with the help of participatory governing mode, improve the scientificalness of decision-making, increase corruption cost, decrease corruption opportunities and strengthen supervision and accountability system through introducing experts into decision-making system and external force participation into supervision system, to contain the spreading tendency of corruption.
