Based on the translation of the brief introduction to the Finshare Group, this report describes translator’s translation process and summarizes this translation. The brief introduction to Finshare Group includes the culture introduction, brief introductions to Group’s subcompanies, business scope,etc..Text typology theory proposed by Katharina Reiss is adopted in translating, according to whom, there are three text types----informative text, expressive text and operative text.Different text types have different emphases. The informative text stresses the content and the authenticity of the information conveyed. While the expressive text emphasizes source texts’ forms and stylistic features, the target text should produce similar semantic structure of the original. The operative text focuses on readers’ responses,in which the target text should produce an emotional effect on target readers as close as possible to that obtained by source text readers.Under the guidance of the different translation strategies, different translation techniques are applied in translating according to different features of the three different text types. For the informative text, amplification, omission, conversion and division are employed to remain the authenticity and accuracy of the source text.In the translation of the expressive text, substitution and shift of the rhyme are used to convey the attitude of source text author and the aesthetic effect of the source text. For the operative text, extension, inversion and condensation are adopted to attract readers’ attention and responses.Based on Katharina Reiss’ text typology, this report summarizes the translation task of the brief introduction to Finshare Group. After introducing the background, process and significance of the task and based on the literal translation,re-creative translation and adaptation strategies as well as the features of language functions and styles, the application of different translation techniques in three kinds of text types are discussed.Major findings, limitations of the translation task and suggestions for the future work are summarized lastly. |
