The Cultural Implication Of Mongolian Characteristic Sculpture In Hohhot City

In the urban district of Hohhot,there is much traditional sculptures with Mongolian cultural characteristics,which the sculptures have influencial Mongolian imprint in design,modeling and other artistic features,as well as the cultural background.It has great history,culture and other value and is an important wealth of Chinese sculpture.Through researching the sculpture of Hohhot,we can understand the various aspects about history of the city’s development,such as society,economy,culture and so on.Base on investigation and statistics on the distribution and quantity of sculpture in Hohhot,it classifies the sculpture into three main types: figure sculpture,five demostic animal sculpture,musical utensil sculpture,ect.The Mongolian traditional sculpture in Hohhot has distinct traditional cultural characteristics of grassland ethnic in terms of theme,content and art form expression,among which the content is rich in type,the diversity of five demostic animal culture,harmony of ecology and the practicability of function.In terms of artistic characteristics,it mainly embodies the figure character of the shape,the precious material,the simplicity of color,the diversity of the subject and the richness of creation.From the perspective of cultural anthropology,this research tries to look for the cultural genes of urban sculpture in Hohhot in the people’s social life scene of the Mongolia.The main reason is that grassland life constitutes the basic color of the sculpture in Hohhot.The characteristic building becomes the background of the Huhhot sculpture,the driving horse becomes the base of the city sculpture,the five demostic animals symbiosis becomes the life of the city sculpture,the clothing and ornaments become the outercoat of the Huhhot sculpture,and the artistic culture becomes thesources of the Huhhot sculpture.According to study in the content and artistic characteristics of sculpture in Hohhot,its cultural genes is tried to explored,and also consider it presents the basic cultural spirit of the Mongolian people,which can be summarized as the cultural complex of worshiping heroes and the nomadic spirit of advocating freedom,survival spirit of admiring pragmastisim,and grassland bosom with open and endurance.
