Research On The Practice And Culture Of Shanghai Urban Sculpture

Shanghai has gradually become a world-famous city since its opening as a port,and has formed a unique urban scene with its special historical and cultural environment.Sculpture as a kind of artistic expression set in the city has a long historical record,and there have been many prestigious sculpture works long before the founding of the People's Republic of China.However,"urban sculpture" was defined as a concept and was incorporated into urban construction according to law in the 1980 s.At the beginning,urban sculpture became a major project of my country's urban constr uction and spiritual civilization construction with the concept of beautifying the city,commemorating the revolution and spiritual orientat ion.As an important pilot city for urban sculpture in my country,Shanghai has shown a leapfrog development in the more than 70 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China,such as from beautification to enlightenment,from single to pluralism,from externalizat ion to objectivity,from official to commercial,from The phenomenon of elites going to the masses.With the deepening of reform and opening up and the acceleration of the process of globalization,Shanghai's openness,tolerance,cooperation,leadership,and internat ionality have become more and more salient features of this city.Its urban sculptures show the spirit of the city.There is also an increasing need to withstand the scrutiny of various cultural ideas.The research of this thesis is based on the urban sculpture as a kind of urban cultural phenomenon,which can be called cultural sculpture in nature.It conducts a comprehensive investigation of Shanghai urban sculpture from the perspective of cultural critical theory.With the surging and rapid development of the cultural industry in my country,Shanghai urban sculpture has shown its cultural status quo worrisome.In the subtle way,the utility of instrumental rat ionality,the concept of money worship,and the publicity of utilitar ianism are integrated into the construction of urban sculpture.Urban sculpture works are empty in ideological thoughts and the same in modeling language,fragmented in humanistic spirit,and even form a sharp confrontation with the city,thus affecting the pursuit of urban spirit.For this reason,it is necessary to re-explore the true nature of these sculptures from the historical environment,and shows the cultural composition of Shanghai urban sculpture.Through the cultural criticism of the current situation of urban sculpture and the analysis of urban sculpture practice,it is between the institutional,artistic,and public aspects to analyze the future direction of urban sculpture,to promote the formation of a consensus among city managers,art creators and cultural enjoyers,and to construct the image of a beautiful city.It generates innovative and progressive forces in cultural criticism,seeks fresh creative themes in public communication,and generates win-win cooperation methods in cross-border interactions,allowing the city of Shanghai to display a spirit of truth-seeking and pragmatic attitude,reflecting the need for urban construction to pursuit the good human nature,and showing people's ideal state of seeking beauty.
