“How can I not think of him” is an art song composed by YuenRen Chao and lyrics by BanNong Liu.The lyrics are taken from a new poem by a famous poet Ban Nong Liu,in London in 1920,and then the poem was composed by YuenRen Chao.Because of the lyrics is beautiful and elegant, and creation of the melody not only draw lessons from the western art song creation technique, also blended in China Peking Opera tune.Melody is very elegant, artistic conception far-reaching.Once published, the song has had a wide impact on young people and patriotic people.Whether it is the artistic value of the song or its social influence,“How can I not think of him” is a masterpiece of modern art songs.Yang Shen held a solo concert on May 6,2011 in the Shanghai grand theatre, called "Chinese art songs".He put Mr Yuanren chao’s recording of the first paragraph,Mr Yi-Kwei’s recording in the second paragraph,Yang Shen sang the fourth paragraph,,when he sang “How can I not think of him”.I have been deeply aware of the mission of the inheritance of Yang Shen’s performance in this work, and the humanistic meaning behind this classic work.
