| Record of the Listener(Yijian Zhi)is supernatural stories from the Southern Song Dynasty written by Hong Mai during his later years.It contains 301 stories about females.Therefor,they described various females in the Southern Song Dynasty.In addition to females in the real society,the collection also depicted goddess and female ghosts.Hong Mai wrote these female stories by using different narrative techniques.These stories not only reflected the living environment of females but also indicated the cultural background of the Southern Song Dynasty.This paper consists of four chapters.In the Chapter One classifies story types of female stories in by categorizing them as oddities,beautiful female monsters,women's retribution,female celestial,blessed women,filial women and talented women based on the content.In the Chapter Two studies the narration of female stories and analyzes from three aspects,narrative structure,narrative time and narrative space.It can find the cultural context of the Southern Song Dynasty from the narrative features of Hong Mai's Record of the Listener(Yijian Zhi).In the Chapter Three analyzes the influence of social and cultural background of the Southern Song Dynasty on the female story of Record of the Listener(Yijian Zhi),interpreting from open marriage,pursuit for desire,Zhu Xi's Thought on female education.In the Chapter Four introduces the embodiment of Hong Mai's female concept on the female story of Record of the Listener(Yijian Zhi),mainly analyzing the contradiction of the author's own thoughts and male chauvinism of his dominant position in the society.Through analyzing and studying the content above,it finds the social and cultural enviro nment in Southern Song Dynasty and characteristics of the survival of females with different identities and positions.At the same time,mainstream people like Hong Mai showed a narrow view of women,which was the main reason why females became belongs and consumer goods of males in the patriarchal society at that time. |
