The Poetic Singer Of Jiangnan Landscape—A Study On Zhang Xinyu’s Watermark Prints

The formation of Jiangsu Watermark Prints played an important role in the development of Chinese prints in the 1950 s and 1960 s.How to understand the achievements of Jiangsu Watermark Prints and the representatives of Jiangsu Watermark Prints is an important subject in contemporary Chinese art research..Zhang Xinyu(1932-2009)is a 20 th century engraving artist,is one of the representative painters and main founding members of Jiangsu Watermark Painting School.He devoted his life to the research and exploration of watermark prints and made important contributions to the development of Chinese watermark prints.This paper takes Zhang Xinyu’s life history as the narrative background,and takes the representative works of different periods as the research focus,discusses the background of his print art,the overall analysis of the artistic history,the artistic features of the watermark prints,and the artistic achievements and influences.Trying to conduct an all-round study of his artistic career,and take the theme and style of important works as the focus of analysis,to explore his watermark prints to explore and expand.Zhang Xinyu’s work image and color is very general,full of mood.To express the beauty of life in the form of lyricism,to form the face of his works,and to enrich the creative form of printmaking,which played an important role in the aesthetic transformation of prints in the 1950 s and 1960 s.In the 1980 s,he tried to use the modern abstract form of the natural form of aesthetic transformation,embodies some of the characteristics of modern art.This paper makes a systematic summary and analysis of Zhang Xinyu’s life history and creative process,andsummarizes his artistic achievements,and thinks that he made an important contribution to the modern exploration of Chinese watermark prints in the second half of the 20 th century.
