In Modern Chinese,there are many words used on fear as endophoric evidences,such as‘Kong(?),Pa(?),Kongpa(??),Pashi(??),Pabushi(???),etc.'We select five words above to do the research from the synchronic and diachronic perspectives.This paper also aims at describing and analyzing these words in the context of that attribute pragmatic functions,semantic properties and syntactic level,evolution path and evolution mechanism of mining such words from the diachronic perspective.This paper is divided into six parts.The first chapter details the purpose and significance of the research.This part also analyzes the current situation and existing problems.Meanwhile,the content,basic research,theoretical methods and corpus sources are also analyzed.The second chapter investigates the grammar distributions,including the positions of those five words,the co-exist words with them,and the appearence time in different sentences,tenses,and genres.The third chapter makes a detailed investigation of the fear as endophoric evidence words from the pragmatic perspectives.They have the functions of evidentiality,interpersonal interaction,subjectivity and highlighting the focuses.The fourth chapter examines the evolution path and evolution mechanism ofthese words from diachronic perspective.The five words have different paths of evolution.“Kong” was used as endophoric evidence in early historic times while“Pashi” and “Pabushi” appeared nearly in Song Dynasty.Henceforth,fear words have a long history of evolution path.The fifth chapter studies the differences and common points of “Fear” words compared modern British English with modern Chinese in order to find out the universality of different languages in the world.The last chapter is the conclusion of the innovation and inadequacies.
