The original text in this translation report is from the Chapter 11 of Greek Mythology: A Traveler’s Guide from Mount Olympus to Troy written by David Stuttard,which mainly tells us the origin of Tiryns and twelve tasks finished by Heracles.This translation report consists of two parts,the first one is talking about theories based on translation,the second one is the specific translation.The first part has four chapters.The first one is the introduction,including the reasons of choosing the original text,meaning of choosing it and the goals of this report,etc.The second tells researching background,including introduction to the source text,like the author and basic content of this chapter and analysis to theories,telling how translation theories guide the practice.The third chapter is about difficulties in translating and the solutions.The last is conclusion,giving an understanding of translation and showing problems waiting to be solved.Guided by types of source text,this report belongs to the informative type,combining communicative translation claimed by Peter Newmark,it shows different translation methods used under the different situation.
