In the Meditations on First Philosophy,Descartes found a so-called Archimedes' s point: "I am" and built his theory of knowledge on the basis of "I am"."I am" is not only the starting point of Descartes' s philosophy, but also can be regarded as the starting point of modern philosophy. In this sense,Descartes can be regarded as the founder of modern philosophy. So to clarify this starting point of Descartes' philosophy is very important for the understanding of Descartes' philosophy and modern philosophy, then there is an important problem, that is how Descartes got the "I",only after this issue is clarified,we can get to the philosophy of Descartes a clear and reasonable understanding, this article will return back to the Meditations on First Philosophy, especially the second meditation,to analyze and clarify the original text,to clarify the relationship of "I think" and "I exist" in Descartes` text,to clarify the problem that how Descartes got the “I”.This article mainly adopts the analysis method of Descartes' s text,on the basis of this clatification, try to clarify the main explanations on the issue of the relationship of “I am”and “I exist” in the Meditations on First Philosophy, attempt to dispaly all kinds of argumentation, including inappropriate analysis and its reasonable place,in this process we can clarify the thoughts of Descartes,Descartes clarify the relationship of “I am”and “I exist” in the Meditations on First Philosophy.Firstly, the article will try to clarify some of the basic issues and concepts, the first thing need to clarify is the standard of the relationship of “I am”and “I exist”.is it "I am,I exist"(Ego sum,ego existo),or "I think therefore I exist"(Cogito,Ergo,Sum),from two aspects to indicate that we should take "I am,I exist "(Ego sum,ego existo)as the standard of the relationship of “I am”and “I exist”.Then the article discusses five views on the relationship between Cartesian "I think" and "I exist".The first is the analysis of inference interpretation, including syllogistic inference and interpretation of rules of inference, after showing the structure of these arguments, and on the basis of the analysis of Descartes' s text,I will refute this explanation. The second analysis is Hegelian interpretation,at the end, these interpretation can be seen as the view of Hegel himself, the view of Hegel is to explain the relationship of “I am”and “I exist” on the basis of the identity of thoughts and existence, and Hegel thought his view is not the idea of Descartes himself,as to the idea of Descartes himself,Hegel thinks that the way Descartes got “I exist” is only by consciousness. The third interpretation is the performatory interpretation, this is the Finland philosopher and logician Hintikka`s view, proposed by Hintikka from the perspective of logic and philosophy of language. The fourth explanation is the intuitive interpretation,in this part,I will try to clarify the meaning of Descartes` intuition, point out that the biggest problem of the intuitive interpretation is that it might lead to a cycle, and this may not be the idea of Descartes. In the last part of the article I will discusses the fifth interpretation, namely the phenomenological interpretation, this interpretation has two main points: one is that Descartes' s "I think" is a concept with abundant meaning, this "I think" not only contains intellectual thinking, also includes all forms of consciousness, which makes possible to explain Descartes` "I think" from the phenomenological point of view;the second point is the phenomenological theory of consciousness can avoid the problems caused by the other possible explanation, however, this explanation also has the problem of over interpretation, which means that the explanation may be proved for Descartes, not by Descartes himself. After all these discussions, although we can not completely determined what is the relationship of “I am”and “I exist” in the Meditations on First Philosophy,a lot of problems have been clarified, and the clarification of these issues have helped us to understand Descartes` "I think" and "I exist" and to understand Descartes' s philosophy.
