Biolinguistics is an interdisciplinary subject emerging from the combination of biology and linguistics and involves the fields of linguistics,biology,anthropology,psychology and neuroscience.It has been found that in recent years,the research on the field of biological linguistics has developed,but the translation strategies for the text of biologic linguistics are not sufficient.Therefore,the translation of biological linguistic text plays more and more important roles in the translation circle.This report is a translation practice based on a translation project and is written after the translation of the project Words and Rules.The translation project is an English-Chinese translation project and the source text is a linguistic book and its language is professional and objective.This translation project belongs to the supervisor’s research project “The study of the origin of language in the theory of evolutionary psychology”.This project can help existing linguists go out of old theories and jointly promote the development of scientific research in the new era and promote research in the field of biological linguistics.The author’s translation project belongs to the basic literature work of the project.This report is divided into four parts.The first part describes the introduction of the translation project,including the background information,translation target analysis,and translation methods,translation tools and progress.The second part is the analysis of translation from the aspect of term,sentence,paragraph.The third part is to make statistics and use data to analyze and evaluate the paper.The last part is to conclude the thesis,summarize the defects in the translation process and conclude the author’s contribution.This report analyzes the translation process and summarizes the different translation methods used in the translation process,such as the theory of functional equivalence,conversion,amplification,omission,division and combination.At the same time,it describes the problems encounter in the translation process such as professional vocabulary,unfamiliar vocabulary and the solutions adopted.It plays a guiding role and provides reference value for the future translation practice and research of this kind of text.
