Translation Report Of The Brochure Rencontre

This translation report is based on the translation task for the exhibition brochure of the painting exhibition "Rencontre" in 2017.The brochure mainly consists of three parts:Biography of Hans Hartung(Biographie abregee de Hans Hartung),Self-narrative(Commentaires de Hans Hartung)and Excerpt(Bref abecedaire de HH).Biography of Hans Hartung deals with the life experience of the painter in chronological order;from an interview with Hartung,Self-narrative focuses on how Hans Hartung walked up and stuck to his printmaking;Excerpt is an excerpt from the writings of Hartung,which describes his comprehension and understanding of the art and the printmaking.This translation report takes this translation practice as the research object,reviews the whole process of translation and analyzes some problems in order to find the solutions to these problems,and sums up the experience and lessons.Finally,some effective suggestions are put forward for the translation of this kind of text.The report is divided into four parts:the first part is the translation task introduction.This part will briefly introduce the background,content and field of the project,and outline the characteristics and difficulties of the task,which mainly including art terms and style differences.And then for theses problems,some concrete solutions are proposed.The second part is the description of the translation process,including preparation and practice of translation.These two sections analyze the translation practice from a macroscopic perspective.The preparatory process mainly focuses on the establishment of the translation methods.Before the establishment of the methods,two factors,namely the text and the readers,should be taken into consideration.The characteristics of the text include the characteristics of the content and style.And the reader group is divided into two categories:those with professional knowledge base and those without professional knowledge base.Then specific translation methods are determined according to the characteristics of these elements.The section of the translation is the description of the arrangement of time and order in this practice.The third part is mainly about the translation methods and case analysis.This part analyzes 11 cases based on relevant translation theories to examine the translation practice from such microscopic angles as vocabulary,sentence and paragraph.The report classifies,describes and analyzes the difficulties come across in this practice,and then put forward specific solutions.The fourth part summarizes the characteristics and shortcomings of this translation practice,including the accuracy of terminology translation,the acceptance of the readers and the translator's "creativity",etc.The lessons learned from this translation practice will guide future translation work.
