Recent studies on correlation between teachers' beliefs and teaching behaviors have been the focus in the filed of education.Young college teachers are the main force in college,affecting the development of higher education and the qualities of graduates.Therefore,researches on the correlation between English teachers' beliefs and teaching behaviors of young college English teachers are of great significance and importance to teachers and higher education.Drawing on Constructivism Theory and Teacher cognition,combined with the methods of questionnaire investigation,interview and classroom observation with teachers,this thesis aims to explore the correlation between English teachers' beliefs and teaching behaviors of young college English teachers.The research questions are as follows:(1)What general beliefs do young college English teachers hold?(2)What is the current situation of young college English teachers' teaching behaviors?(3)What is the correlation between young college English teachers' beliefs and their teaching behaviors?55 young college English teachers are investigated by means of questionnaire,the results of which are analyzed by SPSS 19.0 to know the general beliefs that young college English teachers hold and the current situation of young college English teachers' teaching behaviors.Then interview and classroom observation with 5 young college English teachers,which last for two months,are recorded in this thesis.The research found that:(1)General beliefs about student management,student learning,teaching,curriculum and English teaching method of young college English teachers are positive,but traditional orientations are also shown in the certain dimensions.(2)General behaviors about classroom management,blackboard writing,teaching,questioning and feedback of young college English teachers hold a positive orientation,and the minority of teachers' teaching behaviors are inclined to have a traditional orientation.(3)There is a close correlation between Young college English teachers' beliefs and teaching behaviors,but they are not completely consistent with each other.Positive teachers' beliefs lead to positive teaching behaviors.However,influenced by many factors,teachers teaching behaviors are not exactly in consistency with teachers' beliefs all the time.Due to the limited time and conditions,the number of teacher samples is relatively small and teachers' teaching behaviors can not be observed comprehensively.Considering these limitations above,there are some recommendations for further studies.Firstly,a longitudinal study would be conducted on mapping the process of change in teachers' beliefs and teaching behaviors.Secondly,a broader population of samples would be selected from universities through the country to promote the validity of the study.Finally,videos would be employed in the process of classroom observation to increase the reliability of the qualitative study.
