Purposes:Procrastination is prevalent among college students, and it will exert a significantly negative influence on their academic performances and life qualities.Negative perfectionism and worry are regarded as important factors in affecting procrastination.Besides, the negative problem orientation in solving social problems might also play a key role in this relationship. The purposes of the study are twofold 1)to analyze the prediction of negative perfectionism and worry about procrastination as well as the mediation of negative problem orientation between the two predictors and procrastination, and to construct the psychological mechanism between negative perfectionism, worry, negative problem orientation and procrastination.2)to verify the above psychological mechanism by interfering the procrastination of college students with the method of problem solving therapy. Methods:the study is divided into two parts:questionnaire study and intervention effects study. The former part was conducted among common college students from various universities in Hangzhou city, applies the General Procrastination Scale by Lay,the Social Problem-Solving Inventory-Revised Scale(Chinese Revised Edition),the Worry Domains Questionnaire and the Positive and Negative Perfectionism Scale.421 copies of the questionnaire are sent out,and 357 out of 421 copies are considered effective, effective rate is 95.5%.On the basis of the questionnaire,42 participants whose score in procrastination tests are over 40 points are randomly selected to participate in the experiment. They were randomly assigned to different intervention groups and control groups. The participants in the intervention group received a 90-minutes 'problem solving therapy' intervention once a week the four weeks, while the control group did not receive intervention treatment. The data of the two groups were collected after the intervention process.Relevant analysis, regression analysis, paired sample T-test,independent sample T-test,path analysis and structural equation were used for data processing.Results:1)Both negative perfectionism and worry are positively correlated with procrastination(r=0.24,0.40s,P<0.01).2)Negative problem orientation contributes independently to procrastination, accounting for 8.3%of the variance alone.3)Structure equation model results display, the theoretical mode fits in well, and all the parameters reach acceptable levels.4)Contrastive analysis of the data before and after the intervention shows that problem solving therapy can significantly improve the individual's negative problem orientation(F(1,42)=6.32,p<0,05,?2=0.14)and procrastination(F(1,42)=8.47,p<0.01,?2=0.18).5)Further validated the psychological mechanism of procrastination, and negative problem orientation have significant mediating effects in problem solving therapy and procrastination(? =0.53,P<0.001).Conclusion:Negative problem orientation functions as an obvious mediator in predicting procrastination by both negative perfectionism and worry, proving the psychological mechanism of 'two predictors-negative problem orientation-procrastination '.'Problem-solving therapy' could help university students make progresses in reducing procrastination by reducing their negative problem orientation.Further discussions its effects and mechanism also need to be carried out among college students in the future.
