| With the constant acceleration of the process of globalization,the scope of Chinese demands for getting various information abroad has been gradually widened.In particular,soft news that covers abundant subjects has become one of the important accesses for Chinese readers to a wide range of information abroad.Facing an increasing tendency towards the demands of readers for reading soft news,the author of this thesis finds it necessary for us to do more researches on the E-C translation of soft news.Since soft news plays an important role in the cross-culture communication,it can naturally be well-linked with pragmatics.By means of searching for and reading relevant literature,the author of this thesis found that in the previous studies of the translation of soft news,most Chinese scholars did researches on the translation of soft news from the perspective of Functional Translation Theory while very few scholars made a study of it from the perspective of Adaptation Theory.Thus,this thesis attempts to make a study of the E-C translation of soft news,using Verschueren’s Adaptation Theory as its theoretical basis and taking China Daily iNews as its corpora,with the aim of making some contributions to the research system of the E-C translation of soft news and providing some references for translators to further improve the quality of translating soft news.It has been found in this study that the Adaptation Theory has a great interpreting power over the E-C translation of soft news and can perform the function of its guidance well.If translators can consider the influence of such factors as linguistic structures,contextual correlations,dynamics of adaptability and translators’ pragmatic awareness of the adaptation process on the translation and make their optimal choice and adaptation,their Chinese versions will not only convey the meaning of the original information exactly,but also arouse the target readers’ interest in reading and their emotional resonance. |
