| User-Centered Translation is a new academic book on translation model,co-edited by three Finnish scholars Tytti Suojanen,Kaisa Koskinen and Tiina Tuominen,and published by Routledge Press in 2015.This book contains ten chapters,which studies the theoretical framework of "user-centered" translation model and the practical methods of user-centered translation and its application in translation industry.This book has broken through the studies of traditional translation research,and has a strong significance on theoretical and practical level,since it advocates the "user-centered"translation model and draws the studies of technical communication,cross-cultural communication,usability research,and user experience research,and emphasizes the central role of the user in the translation process by gathering information about users throughout the translation process with a variety of methods.The source text belongs to academic text,thus the report will focus on the analysis of whether the combination of semantic and communicative translation principles could be applied to the E-C translation of academic texts or not,and how to solve the problems with appropriate translation skills.This translation practice report will be divided into five parts.The first part includes the background and stylistic features of the source text.The second part describes the translation process,which includes the selection of translation tools and parallel text,schedule control and proofreading.The third part mainly introduces the definition of the communicative translation and semantic translation theories and their guiding significance to the E-C translation of academic text.The fourth part lists several examples to analyze the problem-solving process under the guidance of communicative translation and semantic translation theories.During the process of the translation,the difficulties lie in the translation of terminology,long sentences and passive sentences.The last part is conclusion,which summarizes the author’s personal experience and enlightenment gained from the translation practice.The author has acquired some key points from this translation project.First,the author realizes the necessity to master some translation theories and skills.Second,the author should take the translation work seriously and earnestly.Last but not least,the author should cultivate and improve the bilingual competence. |
