Methods Of Searching For And Using Parallel Texts In Game Translation

This thesis is a case study of Chinese translation of two game reviews,focusing on the methods of searching for parallel text.As the video game industry develops,there is an increasing demand for the translation of game reviews.However,because of the specialized content,translators of game reviews are required to have specialist knowledge of the game industry.For most translators who are not familiar with the video games,parallel text is a helpful tool for the translation of game reviews.In this case study,according to the features of game reviews,the author concludes three methods to searching for parallel text for game reviews from the general approaches.The translations of the two game reviews are studied to evaluate the benefit of parallel texts in game review translation in improving the speed of translator and the fluency and preciseness of the translation.Three methods are proposed to look for parallel text for game reviews:using the game content,searching for game-related multimedia resources and imitating the game-related reviews.
