| More and more Chinese people choose traveling,both at home and abroad,as a way to entertain and relax as they are living a wealthier life.In the era of information,travel agencies build their official websites to advertise and sell tourism products and programs to travelers around the world.On their websites,they have all kinds of one-stop travel packages for travelers,bringing much convenience and efficiency to travelers and makes tourism websites very popular.To meet the needs of rapidly growing overseas traveling,travel agencies need to improve and localize their tourism websites.Therefore,the translation and localization of tourism websites are especially important for travel agencies.Based on the translation and localization of Trip Advisor,a popular English tourism website,this paper firstly explains what localization is and the relationship between translation during localization and translation in general.Then it illustrates the characteristics of tourism website from the aspect of supertext,takes Qunar,a Chinese tourism website,as parallel text to analyze language styles on Chinese tourism website.At last,this paper comes up with strategies that translators can apply when they are involved in tourism website translation and localization,including checking the usability while translating,breaking down long sentences and changing language styles.This paper aims to give suggestions for translators of tourism website translation and localization. |
