Construal-level Influences Self-control

In this study,the author defines the definition of self-control through the theory of construal level,and attempts to provide empirical support for the hypothesis that the level can influence the self-control.Experiment one is used in 2(level: high,low)* 4(event: restaurant,ipad,film,bookstore)* 2(the time of obtaining the distance: immediate and delayed)three factor mixed experimental design.The level of interpretation is the design of the subjects,the time(distance,delay,delay)of the event(restaurant,ipaid,film,bookstore)and the results obtained are designed by the subject.The dependent variable is the level of self-control,define the theory of individual actively debugging behavior,ability and the personal value and social expectation,it can trigger or suppress certain acts,such as planning,planning,impetuous behavior,and inhibit the resist temptation,delay to meet the individual barrier.The operational definition is the difference between the amount of money that the participants are willing to pay for the time interval between immediate and delayed two results.It is embodied in the amount of money that the participants are willing to pay,and the amount of money they are willing to pay.Experiment two is used 2(levels: high and low)* 2(gain importance: important and not important)* 2(pay level: pay and no pay)three factor mixed experimental design,the level of interpretation between subjects design,importance and level of income paid by within subjects design.The dependent variable is the level of self-control,define the theory of individual self regulating behavior,ability and the personal value and social expectation,it can trigger or suppress specific behavior,such as the suppression of impulsive behavior,resist the temptation,delay of gratification,formulate and complete the plan for.Operational definition is the intention of individual to participate in learning.In experiment three,the use of 2(self controlled consume: yes and no)x 2(interpretation level: high and low).The design of the self controlled loss and the level of interpretation.The dependent variable is the self controlled depletion effect,which is defined as the effect of self controlled resources and energy consumption on subsequent tasks.The operation definition is the response time and error of the new knowledge learning task.The results showed that: the activation of the theory of construal level leads to greater self-control.That is,the theory of construal level for immediate over delayed outcomes,stronger intention to exert self-control and slowing down the impact of self-control loss.The concrete manifestation is:1,Participants procedurally primed with global perception reduced preferences for immediate over delayed rewards than those primed with local perception.2,In the practice,perceptual level influences self-control in a self-control situations of conflict,and this effect is moderated by the importance of the cost importance,namely:Participants procedurally primed with global perception,compared with those primed with local perception,reported stronger intentions to participate in psychological studies that offered high-level benefits with low-level consts,when high-level benefits were valued.There were no significant differences between participants primed with global Perception and those primed with local perception in the intentions to participate in psychological studies that offered high-level benefits with low-level costs,when high-level benefits were not valued.There were no significant differences between participants primed with global Perception and those primed with local perception in the intentions to participate in psychological studies that offered high-level benefits,regarding less of high-level benefits are valued.3,compared to the low level of interpretation,the high level of interpretation,the subjects in the case of cognitive resources,the ability to learn new tasks.
